Sack the Jack Lottery
Rules and Regulations 2017
Regina Thunder Football Club
Sack the Jack Lottery is a fundraiser operated by the Regina Thunder Football Club (non-profit organization). It is a “Chase the Ace” style lottery that includes both a regular and a progressive jackpot. The lottery runs between January 9, 2017 and December 18, 2017.
How it works:
Tickets are sold for the price of 1 for $5, 3 for $10 or 7 for $20. Each price category will be printed on a different coloured ticket. They are sold anytime during the DRAW PERIOD. The DRAW PERIOD is defined as any time prior to the published draw date and time. Draws take place as scheduled at Bonzzini’s Brew Pub in Regina, SK (4634 Albert St). All draws take place at 9pm.
All tickets sold during the draw period will be included in the draw barrel. One ticket will be drawn and identified as the winner for the draw period. The winner for that draw period wins 20% of the total ticket sales for that draw period. In addition, they have the opportunity to pull one card from the remaining cards of the DECK. The DECK is a standard deck of 52 playing cards minus any cards previously pulled by winners in previous draw periods. If the winner successfully draws a Jack of Spades, they win the total PROGRESSIVE JACKPOT. The PROGRESSIVE JACKPOT is 30% of all ticket sales, up to and including the current draw period, since the last progressive jackpot win. If the winner does not draw the Jack of Spades, they have been unsuccessful in winning the progressive jackpot and 30% of sales for the current draw period is added to the progressive jackpot available for the following draw period. The drawn card is removed from the deck and destroyed.
The initial progressive jackpot (first draw on January 9, 2017) will be $1000 plus 30% of the sales for the first draw period. If the winner of the first draw successfully pulls the Jack of Spades, they win a total of 50% of the total sales within the first draw period plus $1000. If the winner is unsuccessful in drawing the Jack of Spades, 30% of sales for the draw period plus $1000 is carried forward as the progressive jackpot for the 2nd draw period plus 30% of the total sales in the 2nd draw period.
All ticket and card draws are recorded with video and posted to the Regina Thunder social media. All results including ticket drawn, winner name and jackpot amount will be posted to the Thunder website. All undrawn cards are store in a sealed envelope in a locked compartment until the following draw.
Winners must be present or have a proxy present in order to win the prize for the draw period and have the opportunity to draw a card from the deck for a chance at the progressive jackpot. The ticket owner may assign a member of the Regina Thunder Board of Directors as a proxy.
Once a ticket is drawn, the winner’s name and ticket number will be announced for a period of 15 mins. Staff will also display the winning ticket number on a white board and/or video screen’s around the room. If the winner does not identify themselves within 15 minutes, the winner’s proxy will act on the winner’s behalf and pull a card from the DECK.
There is no age requirement to purchase tickets.
WHEN THE PROGRESSIVE JACKPOT IS WON
The progressive jackpot is declared as won when the holder of a drawn ticket or their proxy pulls the Jack of Spades from the remaining deck of cards. When the progressive jackpot is won, the lottery may or may not be relaunched with a new draw period and progressive jackpot. If relaunched, the progressive jackpot for the first new draw period will be 20% of the sales during the first draw period plus $1,000.
END OF LOTERRY PERIOD PAY OUT PLAN
Shall the progressive lottery be won one or more times throughout the total lottery period, there may be a number of undrawn cards in the deck greater than the amount of remaining scheduled draws as we approach the end of the lottery period. The following plan will be implemented to ensure the progressive lottery is paid out on or before the final draw date. At the draw date of December 11, 2017, the remaining deck of cards will be reduced to a maximum of 20 cards (if required) including the Jack of Spades. If the progressive jackpot is not won on December 11, 2017, the progressive jackpot will carry forward to December 18, 2017. At the draw date of December 18, 2017, the remaining deck of cards will be reduced to a maximum of 10 cards (if required) including the Jack of Spades. If the winner for the draw period is not successful on drawing the Jack of Spades, another ticket will be drawn from the draw barrel. The selected ticket will have the opportunity to draw a Jack of Spades from the remaining deck. If successful in drawing a Jack of Spades, they will be declared the winner of the progressive jackpot. If they are not successful in drawing the Jack of Spades, additional tickets will be drawn from the draw barrel until a drawn ticket successful draws the Jack of Spades and is declared the winner of the progressive jackpot. In the occasion that only the Jack of Spades is remaining in the deck, one last ticket will be drawn from the draw barrel and declared the winner of the progressive jackpot.
